A leading US airline had problems fitting OEM wing tip lenses on its aircraft. Mechanics complained of excessive installation labor - a frustrating hour and a half just to get the OEM lens to fit in its housing.

ATCO product development reps visited the hanger, grasped the problem, and suggested an improved PMA part. ATCO coordinated a dialog between airline engineering and one of its PMA manufacturers. The manufacturer was able to better define the part’s tolerances so that the PMA part would fit first time, every time, and go on faster. (see video clip)

Just a few months later, ATCO began supplying the part.
